Inspirational Writer Spotlight: Author Of Pretty Pretty Black Girl: The Children’s Book, Brianna Laren

Happy Women’s History Month Soigne’ + Swank readers! We are delighted to spotlight writer, filmmaker, and mom of two, Brianna Laren who has dedicated her time and energy to her passion for encouraging young girls, who will one day be women during women’s history month.

Born in Maryland and raised in Washington D.C., Brianna has been writing poems, plays, and stories since childhood. Her latest book, Pretty Pretty Black Girl: The Children’s Book, is filled with beautiful illustrations and inspiring affirmations that will help Black girls feel appreciated, loved, and confident. Each page encourages acceptance, challenges stereotypes, and has powerful words that Black girls can use to feel proud of who they are and build self-esteem. Pretty Pretty Black Girl you are loved, seen, and not alone.

Brianna’s books have been described as love letters to black women serving as a reminder that we are more than enough. Her book, Edge Control for the Soul, was on Essence Magazine’s 21 Books We Can’t Wait To Read in 2021. In addition to Edge Control for the Soul, she is also known for her books Breebe’s Brand New Baby Brother, Pretty Pretty Black Girl, and Save Your Edges Workbook. She is living out her purpose of creating stories, characters, & content that positively impact the lives of others.

Brianna wrote Pretty Pretty Black Girl because far too often, Black girls are bombarded with messages telling us that we are not good enough, not pretty enough, and not worthy of love and respect. Positive affirmations can help to counteract these harmful messages and help Black girls to see themselves in a more positive light and believe in their own beauty and strength. For black girls in particular, learning to love and appreciate themselves is crucial says Brianna’. By building up their self-esteem, affirmations can enable Black girls to reach their full potential and take pride in their appearance and abilities.

Brianna wants black girls who are struggling to love and accept themselves, and to know that they are not alone. Millions of other black girls are also on a journey to self-love. But the good news is that it is possible to change your mindset and learn to love yourself, no matter what anyone else says or thinks.

“Start using positive affirmations today, and watch your life change for the better.”- Brianna Laren
