Kelli Webb’s journey in the world of business and entrepreneurship is nothing short of inspiring. Starting her career in the fast-paced music industry, she gained valuable expertise in public relations, marketing, and communication that laid the foundation for her multifaceted career. From becoming the CEO of NuLevel Group — the first Black-owned and women-owned wedding PR agency — to launching the luxury lifestyle brand Komfort Kollection during a global pandemic, Kelli has consistently followed her faith and passion. Through her work, she not only empowers clients but also upholds her values of humility, comfort, and perseverance, making her a true trailblazer in competitive industries.
You started your journey in the entertainment industry at a record label and later transitioned into PR and luxury comfort products. What were the pivotal moments that led you to these different paths?
Kelli: While working at the label, I was blessed to have been taught about PR, marketing, networking, communication, etc. I say all the time that I am beyond grateful that I was accepted and the CEO, which I was the PA for, took the time to see more in me than I saw in myself at that time.
I believe the pivotal moment was to become a full-time publicist with an agency specializing in the wedding industry, as well as an entrepreneur making candles, body scrubs, body butters, etc., to be honest, was finally following what I love the most. I consistently pray for guidance and to make sure that I’m doing what’s meant, and have the right people put in place to help me see that and finally get here.
NuLevel Group became the first black-owned and black-women-owned wedding PR agency after a major rebranding. What type of clients do you service and what are your goals for the agency moving forward?
Kelli: Being the first is nice, but to be honest, I didn’t make that pivot with knowledge of that information at all. Regarding the type of clients, we are honored to represent businesses and brands in the lifestyle, hospitality, and transportation within the wedding industry. Our desired goal moving forward for NuLevel Group is to expand to wedding events, as well as internationally.
Komfort Kollection focuses on luxury comfort for everyday living. What inspired you to create this brand, especially at a time when the world was facing so much uncertainty due to the pandemic?
Kelli: That’s one of a few reasons why the launch of Komfort Kollection was at that time. The other and main reason was that creating each product with my hands, and every aspect of the process was and still is a place of comfort and peace for me.
How do you ensure that your businesses reflect your values of faith, humility, and comfort, particularly in the highly competitive industries you operate in?
Kelli: It’s important that I continue to pray over both the businesses, clients, directions, and all products daily, especially being in such a competitive industry. I strive to not compare or compete with anyone besides who I was the prior day to do things better the next day.
Balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship is no easy feat. What are some key lessons you hope your children will learn from watching you navigate both roles?
Kelli: Sadly, but not sadly, both of my amazing children are adults. However, I still make sure they are involved when they can with Komfort Kollection in some way. Neither of the girls want to be involved with the PR agency (lol), most importantly they let me know that they are proud of me and excited that I’m truly following my dreams from years ago.
As someone who has successfully launched and rebranded multiple ventures, what advice would you give to other entrepreneurs about the importance of adaptability in business?
Kelli: The only advice I have and stand strong on is to pray, not to be afraid to do it afraid, and have a mentor that you can go to, get guidance from, and learn from.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of building a brand that not only serves your clients but also aligns with your spiritual beliefs and personal values?
Kelli: The most rewarding is moving through the process and seeing the final results. When it comes to both the PR agency and comfort brand, I love to see the satisfied smile on the faces of our clients.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a Black woman entrepreneur, and how have you overcome them?
Kelli: No matter how long I’ve been in business, I still feel that I’m looked at as if I’m not the best fit or I should just be the assistant to one of the men or elders. However, I just allow my work ethic, skills, focus, and determination to speak for itself and that’s my way to address and to overcome all challenges that may come about.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone looking to turn their vision into reality while staying true to their faith, what would it be?
Kelli: If your vision is something that you have a true passion for, you should always pray about it and give it over to God. I believe that’s the best way to turn your vision into a blessed and successful reality.
