Did you know that medically your heart can still beat even if your brain isn’t functioning? ‘Cause I didn’t. I mean, I’d heard it from different people and I saw it on Grey’s Anatomy, so it HAS to be true, right?
When you hear the term “heart flow”, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? I don’t know about you, but that makes me think of:
“Above all else, guard your heart; for everything you do flows from it.”
Proverbs 4:23
This pillar is really all about the people and relationships that are near and dear to your heart, such as your significant other, your parents, children, friends etc., because they are so embedded in your heart, your relationships with them usually impacts your day-to-day decisions. These impacts are directly connected to how you show up, and how you spend your time, energy and coins.
Every decision I’ve ever made, I’ve tapped into what’s flowing from my heart. I’m not saying that I don’t use my head, because I know there’s a delicate balance between the two, but I’ve always asked myself, what does your heart say?
This is really the essence of what #HeartFlow is all about: being honest with yourself about how the different relationships in your life impacts your capacity and the ability to create balance between your personal and professional life. It’s also taking the time to think about how the stress from those relationships affect your capacity, your heart, and your overall health.
Let me remind you that your capacity is not a nice ‘thing’ to have or a negotiable. It has to be your priority. You are the priority.
