Isaiah Bolden, a cornerback from Jackson State, was chosen by the New England Patriots as the 245th overall draft pick in the 7th round of the 2023 NFL Draft – the first HBCU player drafted this year.
Bolden was racked one of the top 30 CBs in the country which landed him a spot at Florids State University. He later transferred to Jackson State soon after Coach Prime was hired. Bolden played a tremendous part at Jackson State and was named to All-Southwestern Athletic Conference teams and was selected to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
“We’re here to disrupt the norm. THIS is Black & Ivy League! HBCU athletes deserve more recognition.” says Founder & Executive Director Lynnecia S. Eley of Black & Ivy League, Incorporated. In this year’s draft, Isaiah Bolden became the first HBCU football player selected ahead of his teammate LB Aubrey Miller Jr. and FAMU’s DE Isaiah Land – who was the top racked HBCU prospect this year, according to ESPN.
