Empowering Women to Walk in Their Purpose Unapologetically!

On a mission to empower and inspire women to Unlock a growth mindset, as they navigate gender biases, self-doubt, and other roadblocks on their paths to achieve their personal and professional goals, we had the chance the catch up with Tynetta and learn more about her vision to ensure every woman has the courage and confidence to live Unlock-ed and Unapologetic!

Tynetta, share with us the story behind your business and journey as an entrepreneur.

I founded UnlockU Coaching and Consulting as a devoted wife, mother, and boss who quickly realized that I was pouring so much into others that my own cup was running low. I lost myself, as roles had begun to define me. Unwilling to continue on that path, I made a personal pledge to make some changes. I got a coach and committed to focusing on my mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health and well-being.

Professionally, I was a high achiever. I spent decades working as a leader in both the public and private sector. However, over the years I had taken many jobs recommended by my mentors, but they weren’t always fulfilling. Also, as I looked up, I noticed that the top leadership positions were largely held by men, primarily white men. The pipeline for women in leadership, especially minority women, was limited. As a coach and mentor I discovered a deeper pattern — most of of my female clients were qualified to lead, but lacked support, advocacy, and opportunity; all of which had a direct impact on their confidence and success. As a result, I created UnlockU Coaching and Consulting LLC to help women find their purpose and the confidence to create actionable plans to follow their dreams.

That’s awesome! As a Black woman, how has your cultural background and experiences influecend your approach to business?

Culturally, it is important for us to remember that we are stronger in numbers and must lift as we rise, bringing others along with us. So when I launched my business, I immediately tapped into other black owned small businesses for collaboration. From web design to event planning, I’ve partnered with other black entrepreneurs each step of the way.

Inspiration is a powerful force that fuels entrepreneurs and drives them to create and innovate. How does inspiration translate inot your work?

Being an entrepreneur comes with countless ups and downs, which could adversely impact your confidence. As a result, it is important to have a solid network and support system to inspire you and encourage innovation and creativity, which is needed in order to stay motivated and stop you from giving up.

At Soigne’+Swank Magazine, we make it our business to highlight and promote positive, uplifting, and meaningful examples of black excellence. What does Black Excellence mean to you? And, what advice would you give your younger self or an aspiring business owner with hopes of pursuing their purpose?

Black Excellence is optimism, confidence, and resiliency. It is giving your very best and never giving up. It is lifting as you rise, giving back, and consistently promoting, empowering, and uplifting others.

My advice is to always bet on you and never give up on yourself. Rejection is a natural part of life, just remember that everything happens for a reason, and something bigger and better is on the horizon. Also, don’t get caught up worrying about who does or doesn’t believes in you. The key is for you to stay disciplined and never doubt yourself!

What’s next or upcoming for you and how/where can readers connect with you?
