Master esthetician and founder of Skin Beauty Bar, Meka Mathis has been a master esthetician for more than 20 years. Mathis had to clear the hurdles that are often placed in front of Black entrepreneurs.

Meka: We offer They offer facials, waxing, sugaring, teeth whitening, ear candling, brow tinting, eyelash lifts, tints, and more.
Where is your company located and how long have you been in business?
Meka: Skin Beauty Bar is located in Washington, DC, and was founded in 2004. We focus on self-care and beauty treatments.
Why is self-care so important?
Meka: Self-care is important because it offers an individual a chance to decompress. Those that indulge in self-care have more of a life balance and an overall positive outlook on life. This results in those people being more effective in their workspace as well as their overall well-being.
What else is vital for our readers to know about you and your company?
Meka: We have a team of estheticians combined who have over 30 years of experience. I have integrated my design marketing degree and esthetics degree by running a successful beauty business that has been featured in several media outlets. Skin Beauty Bar is the destination space for all self-care needs.
Do you have any advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?
Meka: My advice for aspiring and new business owners is to create a business plan and follow your goals to master your craft. There is an abundance of complementary information online that will help grow your business.
